The Ridgewood High School Alumni Association was established in 2014 through the shared vision of Principal Tom Gorman ’87 and a dedicated group of alumni who cared deeply about their alma mater. With state funding in decline, they saw alumni support as a powerful way to help RHS grow while continuing its Tradition of Excellence.
The ABCs of Giving
Principal Gorman, a fan of acronyms, used the ABCs to guide alumni giving:
A– Active Learning Environments:
Investments in technology, modern classroom layouts, and dynamic learning spaces.
B– Beautification:
Reserving and enhancing the charm of RHS’s 100+ year-old building.
C– Curriculum:
Enriching student learning through expanded academic opportunities.

The Four A’s
When it came to making a meaningful impact on students, Principal Gorman identified four key pillars — the Four A’s — that shape the RHS experience:
- Academics
- Athletics
- Arts
- Activities (Clubs)
These values continue to guide the Alumni Association’s mission today, ensuring that every student benefits from a well-rounded and inspiring high school experience.
